Center orders state governments to stop fraud in PM Kisan Yojana

The Central Government has taken a big decision to stop the rigging in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The government has ordered the states to carry out physical verification of 5% of the beneficiaries so that people who are taking benefits without eligibility can be identified. This verification has to be random. In many districts of Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh, a large number of ineligible beneficiaries have been included in the list. In Tamil Nadu, the scheme amount has been transferred to the accounts of more than 5 lakh people who were not eligible. CBCID is now investigating this scam worth Rs 110 crore and the amount transferred is being recovered.

Apart from this, more than 9 lakh ineligible beneficiaries have been found in Assam. The rules of this scheme have already included the process of verification under random sampling, but now the central government has talked about fresh physical verification in view of the rigging. According to an Economic Times report, the central government has ordered the states to verify whether the amount of the scheme is going to the right people by verifying 5% of the beneficiaries.

Explain that under this scheme, such people cannot avail benefits, in which any member of the family pays income tax. Apart from this, retired and existing government employees also do not come under its purview. However, such farmers are under its ambit, who are doing class IV government jobs. Not only this, even those who get pension of more than Rs 10,000 cannot be included in this scheme. The benefit of PM Kisan Yojana cannot be extended even to such people, who are using their land for something else instead of farming.

Door to door beneficiaries will be investigated: An official of the Ministry of Agriculture said that the scheme is being audited by the CAG. We have asked states to provide payment details. They have also been asked to do physical verification of 5 percent of the beneficiaries so that it can be known that the money is not going to the wrong person. State governments can elect any beneficiary and go to his / her home to check the facts.

Sixth installment received by over 9 crore farmers: Let us know that under the PM Kisan Yojana, the central government gives Rs 6,000 to farmers in three installments of Rs 2,000 in a year. Currently, the sixth installment of this scheme is being transferred to farmers from August to November. So far more than 9 crore farmers have got the benefit of the sixth installment. Apart from this, the seventh installment will be transferred from December to March 2021. The scheme was launched by the Narendra Modi government in December 2018.
